Legal verification certifies that your trade approved scales and balances are giving the correct results. SANAS verification certificates are issued after verification and are valid for a duration of 2 years. By law, all trade approved scales and balances must be verified for trade purposes as per the Legal Metrology Act (Act no 9 of 2014)
Verifications can be done on all scales up to 4000kg, provided they are type approved scales. The verifications will be accompanied by a NRCS verification certificate.
WHO NEEDS A VERIFIED SCALE?
All industries that trade over a scale are required to have a verified scale.
Trade includes:
- The making, effecting or concluding of any contract, bargain, sale, purchase or transaction or any payment in connection therewith;
- any payment for services rendered;
- any measurement of a legal nature in connection with which any measuring instrument is used.
